DONOR RELATIONS 102 HOLIDAY EDITION

Tis the season for holiday cheer! This year is a little different for everyone. We pray you and your family are happy and healthy. Here are a few tips to spread some holiday cheer and show your community you care. The next 3 things to immediately do about donor relations this holiday season.

EMAIL MARKETING

Take time to reach out to volunteers, board members, and donors with a branded holiday card. However don't do a generic email, everyone is doing that. Get creative, host an online holiday party, create a video thanking EACH board member. Have fun, wear some light-up antlers, and hit record. Make sure you have some data involved. EXAMPLE

"Thanks so much Ms. Generosity, we pray you are doing well. We wanted to take a moment to thank you for all your support, with your 2020 contributions we were able to help XX people, provide XX of meals and you helped us do that. Merry Christmas and Hapy New Year from OUR ORGANIZATION" PHONE CALLS

PHONE CALLS

Yes, call everyone on your list and thank them personally. This is why having a system for tracking donors is so important. You can refer to the notes "Thanks so much for volunteering during our event last year." If you haven't downloaded our DR contact log you can download it here. If the list is too large, recruit your board members to help make some calls. I know sending an email is easier, however, I can tell you from experience people appreciate going the extra mile AND that's what building donor relations are all about!

VIDEO TESTIMONIALS

It's important to build and maintain relationships with donors and the community you serve. Can you think of someone your organization served that changed their life? If so, reach out to them and ask if they would be willing to post a 2 min video telling their story and how you all helped them. Some people feel more comfortable in an interview setting. Hop on a Zoom with them and share it on your social media platforms. We'd love to hear how these tips helped you connect with your donors and community. Share on the community wall. We'd love to hear about it! As always We're honored to help your nonprofit maximize its impact on your community. Merry Christmas!
