Remember Never to Forget

"Why should I give you more when you don't appreciate what you have" I can guarantee that most parents have said these words to their children or had them said to them as a child. Do you ever think that God feels that way too? We all can be ungrateful at times. Focusing more on what we dont have and quick to forget what He has done in the past.

As we come together to pray for wisdom and direction to run our organizations in God's way, we felt it was essential to start this challenge with a posture of gratitude.

"Lord, the Nonprofit is not where I want it to be but I thank you for what/who we have."

There are so many things you may feel a constant flow of thoughts about. Things to improve in your organization, lists of people to contact, committee ideas, and so on... The more you feel the pressure, the less thankful you may feel.

What if I told you that that tension might indicate that you are working in your strength. Our Anchor scripture for today is Philippines 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

There are three keywords in this scripture. Prayer, communicating to God. Supplication asking with a humble posture. Thanksgiving, praising him for what he's done with the hopeful expectation that He'll do in the future. In the Nonprofit sector, things can be going crazy around you, but

  1. You know God will provide

  2. You're constantly thanking him throughout the day

  3. Asking Holy Spirit for guidance & wisdom

...you exude JOY and Peace. (Which surpasses all understanding) Yes, it's not easy, and it takes an intentional effort to acquire. But he said Peace is our inheritance. see John 14:27

Let's not forget what we already have and give thanks…Praising your volunteers because we would be nowhere without them. The $106 raised during a fundraiser was more than we had, and it may have been someone's last that they donated.

Our prayer is that we all have a David Psalm 23 praise of thankfulness. Tell us what you're grateful for on the Prayer Wall. Let us testify to God's goodness in our lives and start this challenge off, right!
